The Berlin State Library (Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin), co-ordinator of the Europeana Newspapers and Europeana Collections 1914-1918 projects, has just released a short documentary which shows how both projects are making material from World War I more accessible than ever before.
This is illustrated through the story of Walter Flex, one of the best-known writers of the First World War. Important documents related to his work have now been digitized and are freely accessible via Europeana and on the Europeana 1914-1918 portal. In addition, many newspapers from the same time period are being made available through the work of Europeana Newspapers.
